Pepita & Onion Crackers

I’m so in love with these crispy NO BAKE crackers! They are completely free of gluten, dairy  and any other weird “filler” food.  You can find this recipe and many others in my RAW HOLIDAY BOOK.

3 pounds yellow onions, large

1 cup flax seeds, ground in a high speed blender

crackers with pump seeds1/2 cup sprouted sunflower seeds, for soaking

1 cup raw pumpkin seeds, for soaking

1/2 cup Bragg’s Liquid Aminos or Nama Shoyu

1/4 cup cold pressed olive oil

2 cloves garlic

1 tablespoon Raw Honey or Maple Syrup – optional *I avoid agave*




Peel onions and quarter them. Peel garlic. Put both the garlic and the onions in a food processor and chop them small with the s-blade. Don’t allow it to get too watery. You want texture – not mush. Next, run the seeds through the food processor so they break down a little – just a bit.

Then transform onions to a large bowl and mix with remaining ingredients until thoroughly combined.

Spread the mixture on a Teflex (R)  sheet and repeat until all of the mixture is used – it may take as many as three days. For crackers, you’ll want to spread thin but not so thin that it splits apart and leaves holes.

Dehydrate at 115 degrees for 12 hours. Remove from the dehydrator and score lines of where you’ll later want to gently break your crackers apart. Flip the entire sheet over, holding by the corners of the Teflex (R) line. Peel the liner away leaving the crackers on a mesh liner. Then, return to the dehydrator for 12 more hours or until crisp.

  1. Another lovely post! You menoitn wishing for a garden. Be careful what you wish for! I have a big garden and we eat a lot of its produce, but it takes time and work, so I have less time for my blog and for raw food invention. Balance has its costs 🙂 Anyway, thank you for this post. I grow Asian veggies in the winter. Peas as well, so this will be a perfect winter recipe. I can imagine warming it in the dehydrator on a chilly winter day. I’m sure it will be delicious!
